TOM JACQUESSON

Exited Founder @ Tweet Hunter & Taplio
Now advising bootstrapped SaaS founders.

About me

I am a tech entrepreneur.

I created my first startup in 2014 and crashed it 2 years later after raising a seed round and growing to 130,000 users.

In 2021, I created 2 products (here and here) and scaled them to over $8M in ARR in 2.5 years ($1M ARR took 8 months) without any exterior funding, and sold the company in an 8-figure deal.

You can read more about that story and my overall view on how to grow a SaaS businesses here.

I consider myself "financially retired", meaning I don't need to be making money to provide for my family. But I love working with founders and builders.

So part of what I do now is assist early-stage, bootstrapped SaaS founders in their GTM strategy.

My goal is to help you bring the right idea to market, fast.

Problems I can help with

I specialize in rapid idea generation and taking the quickest route to success or failure.

My core belief is that too many entrepreneurs fall in love with their product idea, for which the most likely outcome is a slow, painful failure.

My goal is to provide a lot of specific, relevant feedback about your early-stage SaaS business before you fall into the trap of having spent months building a product which is likely to fail.

I will do everything in my power to help you test your idea faster and validate it with paying customers.

My skills and background lead me to focus on product features and acquiring customers. When bringing me your SaaS idea, most my energy will be spent on recommending adjustments to your feature set, target audience and acquisition tactics.

I mostly work on very early-stage SaaS businesses. Most of my clients are at the idea stage or have just started building.

If you're post-launch, I'm happy to have you on as a client but the methodology may differ slightly. Feel free to book a consultation and if I can't help, I'll refund you.

Methodology and Deliverables

I like to call what I do a "SaaS Deep Dive". After collecting your input, I will spend an entire day reflecting on your SaaS business and writing up my conclusions and recommendations.

The ideal outcome of working with me is you'll get actionnable input on how to bring your SaaS product to market quickly and efficiently.

After payment, you will get access to a form where you'll be able to drop any amount of information you want about your SaaS so I can get a full picture of what it is your product does.

Note about confidentiality: the contents of this form will stay between you and me and will only serve the purpose of delivering the expected analysis. I'm an entrepreneur myself and know the importance of being able to trust the people I work with.

Within a week of filling out this form, I will send over my full review containing as much actionnable advice as possible, neatly packaged into a Notion document. I may also include user flows, UI designs and copywriting depending on how useful those can be.

We will then have a week to exchange comments on these thoughts and dive deeper into whatever you think is unclear or needs more detailing. This is also async.

If you have subscribed to the option, we'll also have a 60 minutes call to debrief everything live. I don't recommend this package but I understand some people really want some face to face time.

Refunds

There are 3 scenarios where I may refund the money you paid.

1. I don't think you should go to market with your SaaS

Sometimes (rarely), I may not believe your SaaS can turn into a profitable business. If that's the case, I'll refund 80% of the amount you paid. I'll keep 20%, not because it makes any kind of financial difference for me, but because I think time and effort deserve payment, however small.

2. I don't feel knowledgeable enough to study your SaaS

If I don't think I'm relevant to give you any sort of advice, I will turn down your case and will immediately issue a full refund. That being said, it should be quite rare if you're indeed building a bootstrapped SaaS business. Mostly this will happen if I'm unable to grasp your target customers and what their needs are.

3. Conflict of interest

If I am invested into a venture which is in the same space as your SaaS, I will disclose it and will leave it up to you to decide whether or not you want to move forward. If not, you will be fully refunded.
